WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Central Coast Angels was founded in 2013 by a group of successful entrepreneurs who share a love for the California Central Coast region and a vision of increased opportunity for the people who live here. We provide early-stage financing to innovative companies who are building businesses located in the region.
WHY WE DO IT
The California Central Coast is one of the most amazing places on Earth, graced by spectacular natural beauty and a wealth of resources. We have the Pacific Ocean, rich farms and fields, and a great abundance of creative, inspired and hard-working people. We have top-quality academic and research institutions and access to Silicon Valley. What we don't have is enough support for innovative companies that can grow locally and provide attractive opportunities for Central Coast residents to work here, where we live. We'd like to see that change.
OUR PRINCIPLES AND PROCESS
- We're not a philanthropic organization - we invest to make money.
- We are not sector specific. While our membership is drawn primarily from high tech executives, we also have members with expertise in agriculture, food products, marine sciences, life sciences and other areas.
- We invest in companies which are located on the Central Coast.
- We do not have a "fund" per se. We evaluate a handful of proposals each month, and if one or more of our members are interested they'll pursue due diligence and report back to our group. Each member makes his or her own decision to invest, or not.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Our members have many years of combined experience with building and investing in successful companies. Included in our members are senior executives who helped to build companies including AnchorFree, Apple, ClickTracks Analytics, Defense.net, Fortinet, Handspring, Harbinger LLC, ICANN, Infoblox, Macromedia, Market Motive, Microsoft, Newman's Own, NeXT, Palm, Paypal, and Symantec.
